Introduction to Solids
Support for Your Baby’s Next Feeding Stage
Starting solids can bring a lot of questions. How do you know your baby is ready? What foods should you offer first? And how does it all fit alongside breast milk or formula?
During your consultation, we’ll talk through your baby’s development, your feeding goals, and a practical way to get started. Whether you’re interested in purées, finger foods, or a combination, we’ll help you choose an approach that feels manageable for your family.
Your consultation may include:
-
Signs your baby is ready for solids
-
When and how to begin
-
Purées, finger foods, and food textures
-
Preparing and serving food safely
-
Introducing common allergens
-
Recognizing hunger and fullness cues
-
Continuing breast milk or formula while adding solids
-
Building a feeding routine that works for your family
Our goal is to help you feel prepared to introduce new foods at your baby’s pace, with clear guidance and room for questions.

Insurance + Payment
Flowstate is in network with Aetna and UnitedHealthcare. Many plans cover multiple visits, though coverage varies by plan and service. If you’re unsure whether your consultation is covered, we’re happy to help check your benefits before you book.
For out-of-network visits, payment is due at the time of your consultation. We accept cash, check, credit card, debit card, Venmo, and Zelle. We’ll provide documentation you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. Credit, debit, and FSA card payments incur the card processor’s transaction fee.
You can also contact your insurer directly to ask about coverage. The National Women’s Law Center’s Breastfeeding Toolkit includes a sample script on page 8.
